The office of the principal is comprised of the Deputy Principal and Head of Academics as well the Manager: Total Quality Assurance and Institutional support.

Overview
Section 4 of the Fort Cox Agricultural Institute Transitional Provisions Act, Act 07 of 2015 defines the Principal as the administrative head of the Institute and is appointed by the Council subject to the approval of the MEC. The office core exists to provide administrative leadership, general management, clean administration, and adherence to corporate governance rules and regulations.
Functions
The functions of the principal are clearly stipulated under section 5 of the Fort Cox Agricultural Institute Transitional Provisions Act, Act 07 of 2015.

- Be the Accounting Officer of the Institute
- Manages the affairs of the Institute
- Perform all the functions of an accounting officer contemplated in the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No.1 of 1999) and all relevant legislation.
- Manage the appointment of staff of the Institute with applicable prescripts.
- Develop and submit strategic plans for the approval by the Council.
- Develop and submit the annual operational plan together with the annual budget for approval by the Council and further submission to the MEC.
- Be ultimately accountable for all formal and non-formal aspects of the programme offered by the Institute.
- Manage the staff of the Institute
- Manages facilities and infrastructure of the Institute
- Facilitate local, provincial, national and international partnerships subject to the Board and MEC concurrence on international partnerships.
- Subject to the approval of the Council facilitate fundraising for the Institute,
Executive Secretary
Key Performance Areas:
- Calendar & Schedule Management (organizing meetings, appointments etc.).
- Communication Management (screening phone calls, managing mails, proofreading correspondence etc.)
- Meeting Coordinating & Minutes (arranging board meetings and taking detailed minutes etc.); Travel arrangements (coordinating flights, hotels etc.)
- Confidentiality & Security (handling sensitive information with discretion and managing secure records)
- Office Administration (maintaining office supplies and liaising with other sections).
- Manual and Electronic filing of documents.
- Quality Assurance of Documents.
- Be responsible for the procurement of inventory of the office of the principal.
