Mr. Zamikhaya Xalisa (Class of 1996), an esteemed member of the Fort Cox Alumni with 27 years of experience since graduation, represents the pinnacle of achievement within our esteemed alumni community.

His remarkable journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of resilience, education, and community engagement.

As an educator and community leader, Mr. Xalisa has made a profound impact on the lives of those he has touched. His story is an inspiration to all who face adversity on their own paths.

Through unwavering dedication, he empowers others and drives lasting change, embodying the essence of a visionary leader. His tireless efforts to uplift individuals, foster sustainable change, and create a brighter future for Eastern Cape communities are unparalleled.

With his leadership, expertise, and staunch determination, he continues to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to cross his path. It is my personal pleasure to introduce you to this colossus of a character.

Mr. Zamikhaya Wauthas Xalisa is a prominent South African figure known for his contributions in various fields, including agriculture, business, and governance. Born on 25 December, he currently resides in Johannesburg and is fluent in English, Xhosa, Sotho, and Setswana.

With an impressive track record of board memberships, trusts, associations, and committee involvement, Mr. Xalisa has demonstrated his commitment to social and economic development. Some of his notable positions include Non-Executive Director roles in organizations such as the Ntinga Development Agency, Helen Joseph Hospital, Amatola Water Board, and JHB Fresh Produce Market.

He also served as Chairman of the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market Board and the Audit, Finance, and Risk Committee of Helen Joseph Hospital.

In addition to his board memberships, Xalisa has held leadership and chairmanship roles throughout his career. He served as Chairman of the NAMC Management Committee, NAMC Transformation Review Committee, SIP 11-Project Steering Committees, AIMS- Project Strategic Committee, and various industry-specific transformation committees.

His educational background is extensive and diverse. He obtained a master’s degree in Sustainable Agriculture from the Free State University, where he focused on the economic impact of livestock feeding on rural livelihoods.

He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Milpark Business School, specializing in financial analysis, strategic marketing management, and leadership.

Furthermore, he completed the Management Advancement Programme at Wits Business School and a Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Management at the University of South Africa.

Throughout his career, Mr. Xalisa has undergone further training to enhance his skills and knowledge. He attended programs such as Finance for Non-Financial Managers at Wits Business School, Designing and Executing BEE Strategy at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), and Project Management training.

His career history shows his dedication and expertise. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman and Managing Director of ZAMGRO Business Enterprise since March 2022. In this role, he communicates on behalf of the company, develops short- and long-term strategies, evaluates the work of other executives, and ensures high social responsibility.

Prior to this, he held positions such as Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) and Senior Manager of Agricultural Industry Trusts at the NAMC. He also worked as a Senior Agricultural Specialist for Black Business Development at ABSA Bank’s Agribusiness Division.

Mr. Xalisa has made significant contributions to the agricultural sector and the transformation of the South African economy. His involvement in various boards, trusts, and committees has allowed him to shape policies, facilitate partnerships, and drive positive change.

His dedication to sustainable agriculture, rural development, and empowering black farmers has been evident in his work.

Impressive qualifications, leadership experience, and commitment to social and economic development have positioned him as a respected figure in South Africa.
